Sing with Us in New York City!
XINSHENG (心声)Chinese Choir is a Non-audition Mandarin choir in New York City. We are an exciting young community brought together by our shared desire to sing in our mother tongue and introduce modern Chinese culture to New York City’s vibrant music community.
We have three semesters during a year where we rehearse weekly on Friday evenings from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the mid or downtown neighborhood of Manhattan.

李陈辰毕业于哥伦比亚大学、中央音乐学院以及北京舞蹈学院。作为一名屡获殊荣的歌手和舞者,她创立了心声中文室内合唱团,不仅负责组织和领导合唱团及无伴奏合唱团的排练,还为他们创作和编曲。除了在合唱团的工作外,李陈辰还是一位充满激情的艺术创业者,在多个行业中积累了丰富的经验。Chenchen Li is a graduate of Columbia University, the Central Conservatory of Music, and the Beijing Dance Academy. As an award-winning singer and dancer, she is the founder of XINSHENG Chinese Choir, where she not only organizes and leads rehearsals for the choir and a cappella groups but also composes and arranges music for them. In addition to her work with the choir, Chenchen is a passionate entrepreneur in the arts with experience spanning various industries.

Muxin Diao
Pianist
Muxin是一位充满激情的钢琴演奏者,同时也是纽约市的一名量化开发者。她从4岁开始学习钢琴,并在北京中学生艺术表演比赛中连续两年获得一等奖。她在伴奏方面有着丰富的经验,多年来担任清华附中合唱团、清华附中音乐剧社团以及清华大学合唱团的钢琴伴奏,在国家级合唱比赛和公开音乐会上演奏。2015年,她还为中央电视台播出的中国老年合唱团比赛提供钢琴伴奏。Muxin Diao is a passionate piano player and a quantitative developer in NYC. Started playing piano at age of 4, she was a first prize winner of Beijing Middle School Art Performance Competition for 2 years. She has extensive experience in playing accompaniment - pianist for Tsinghua High School choir, Tsinghua High School musical club and Tsinghua University choir over the years, playing at national choir competitions and open concerts. She also played for China’s Senior Group Chorus Competition on CCTV in 2015.
Xintong Yu

于昕彤毕业于中央音乐学院作曲系,专注于巡演表演的作曲与编曲工作。她的作品涵盖多种体裁,包括独奏、合奏、音乐剧、合唱以及交响乐团。她的创作注重将东西方、现代与传统元素相融合,形成独特的艺术表达。Xintong Yu, a graduate of the Composition Department at the Central Conservatory of Music, specializes in composing and arranging for touring performances. Her compositions span various genres, including solo, ensemble, musical theater, choir, and symphony orchestra. She places emphasis on blending elements of both Eastern and Western, modern and traditional styles in her works, resulting in a unique artistic expression.

李子傲,青年作曲家。中央音乐学院作曲系在读硕士研究生,曾以专业第一名考入中央音乐学院作曲系本科,师从中央音乐学院教授、中国音乐家协会主席、香港中文大学(深圳)音乐学院创院院长叶小纲教授。2023年获得本校免试资格继续攻读硕士学位。主要作品有:交响乐《奔流》(入选中国文联“礼赞新时代”优秀交响作品展演并于国家大剧院首演)、《生长》(入选2023北京现代音乐节并于北京音乐厅首演)与室内乐《湘绣》、室内乐歌剧《阳羡书生》(入选“第四届杭州现代音乐节”)中国管弦乐《岭南彩韵》(2023“‘南粤新声’广东音乐新经典工程”中国(民族)管弦乐、室内乐作品征集活动优秀作品)等。Ziao Li, a young composer, is currently a master’s student in the Composition Department at the Central Conservatory of Music. He was admitted to the undergraduate program in composition at the Central Conservatory of Music as the top student in his major, studying under Professor Ye Xiaogang, a distinguished professor at the Central Conservatory of Music, President of the China Musicians Association, and Founding Dean of the School of Music at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. In 2023, he was granted direct admission to pursue a master’s degree. His major works include the symphonic piece Torrent (selected for the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles’ “Praise for the New Era” exhibition of outstanding symphonic works and premiered at the National Centre for the Performing Arts), Growth (selected for the 2023 Beijing Modern Music Festival and premiered at the Beijing Concert Hall), the chamber music piece Xiang Embroidery, the chamber opera The Scholar of Yangxian (selected for the “4th Hangzhou Contemporary Music Festival”), and the Chinese orchestral work Lingnan Colors (an award-winning piece in the 2023 “New Classics of Guangdong Music” project for Chinese (ethnic) orchestral and chamber music compositions).
Liyan Cheng

程立言,独立音乐制作人,少儿机器人编程课程研发教师,编曲混音师,曾任北京酷儿合唱团艺术总监,指挥,北京黄村第一中心小学常任指挥,EDF法国电力公司合唱团外聘指挥,PocoArt微艺术工作室创始人,畅想之家科教中心校长,曾在中央音乐学院进修作曲理论、合唱指挥,师从指挥家张以达先生;程立言多年来一直致力于发展原创,改编,合唱曲目,他原创编曲的《王朝旧梦》,《暗香》等合唱曲目,在中央音乐学院歌剧音乐厅,上海音乐学院贺绿汀音乐厅,济南省会大剧院,中央民族音乐厅,国图音乐厅等均有指挥演出,曾于2018年赴美国参加与PGMC合唱团的合作交流,于2019年赴东京参加hand in hand合唱展演等。Liyan Cheng is an independent music producer, children's robotics programming course developer, arranger, and mixing engineer. He previously served as the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Beijing Queer Chorus, the Permanent Conductor of Beijing Huangcun No. 1 Primary School, and an external conductor for the EDF (Électricité de France) Choir. He is also the founder of PocoArt Studio and the Principal of Changxiang Zhijia Science and Education Center. Cheng pursued advanced studies in composition theory and choral conducting at the Central Conservatory of Music, where he was mentored by conductor Zhang Yida. Over the years, Cheng Liyan has been dedicated to the development of original and adapted choral works. His original arrangements, such as "Dynasty's Old Dream" and "Subtle Fragrance," have been performed under his baton at venues including the Opera Hall of the Central Conservatory of Music, He Luting Concert Hall at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Jinan Provincial Grand Theater, Minzu Music Hall, and the National Library Concert Hall. In 2018, he participated in an exchange collaboration with the PGMC Choir in the United States, and in 2019, he took part in the Hand in Hand Choral Festival in Tokyo.

Pianist
黄琦蕾6岁开始学习钢琴。本科就读于纽约州伊萨卡学院音乐学院,师从德米特里·诺夫哥罗茨基博士。她于2023年毕业,并获得了玛丽·海耶斯·诺斯比赛的第一名。她目前在曼哈顿音乐学院攻读钢琴表演硕士学位,师从杰弗里·科恩教授。她曾获得第五届日本国际青年钢琴比赛第一名、明尼苏达国际青少年钢琴比赛第一名、德国奥姆勒国际钢琴比赛第三名,以及首届万科美莎斯坦威钢琴比赛第三名。Qilei Huang started studying the piano at the age of 6. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College school of music in New York State, studying under Dr. Dmitri Novgorodsky. She graduated in 2023 while earning 1st place at the Mary Hayes North Competition. She is currently pursuing the Master of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance at the Manhattan School of Music, studying with Professor Jeffery Cohen. She was awarded 1st Place at the 5th International Young Pianist Piano Competition in Japan, 1st Place at the Minnesota International Youth Piano Competition, 3rd Place at the Omler International Piano Competition in Germany, and 3rd Place at the first Vanke Mesa Steinway Piano Competition.
xuanqi liu

刘炫琦,电子音乐即兴与表演者、视听设计者,作品不限于噪音音乐、当代古典、严肃电子、舞蹈配乐、独立流行和多媒体装置。本科毕业于中央音乐学院音乐教育系,在校期间作为钢琴伴奏及合唱团员跟随音乐教育学院合唱团多次参与演出实践。硕士毕业于约翰斯霍普金斯大学皮博迪音乐学院计算机音乐系,代表作品展演于各类学术会议,包含2023年国际计算机音乐大会(ICMC)、2023年网络音频会议(WAC)、2024年声音和音乐计算会议(SMC)。并作为驻地艺术家于纽约布鲁克林MISE-EN PLACE及弗吉尼亚创意艺术中心进行主题性艺术实践与创作。现于加州大学尔湾分校就读博士一年级,学习融合作曲、即兴和技术。Xuanqi Liu is a performer, musician, and multi-media artist. Her work engages with multimedia practices, incorporating nature themes, cultural experiences and folkloric histories through music, drawing, video, and sound to allow audiences the chance to explore their own curiosities of the world. Xuanqi’s works have been performed at the Yarn/Wire International Institute Festival, SICPP and Valencia International Performing Art summer festival, also presented in The International Computer Music Conference (ICMC) 2023, the Web Audio Conference (WAC) 2024 and the Sound and Music Computing (SMC) 2024.
Xuanqi is currently pursuing a PhD in Integrated Composition, Improvisation, and Technology at University of California, Irvine. She holds a M.M. in computer music at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where she studied with Lyn Goeringer and Sam Pluta. She received her B.M. in Music Education from the Central Conservatory of Music.

Event Intern in December
Location: Onsite (New York)

We are looking for an Event Intern specifically for December to help coordinate and manage our choir's quarterly concert. You will work closely with our team to ensure smooth event execution and provide logistical support on the day of the concert.Responsibilities:
1. Assist in organizing the concert logistics on December 7th
2. Coordinate with the venue for set-up and tear-down
3. Help with stage management during the concert
4. Assist with volunteer staff management and audience seatingQualifications:
